An Everybody Loves Raymond Moment

There's not enough blog space in the world to expose all of the lies that sitcoms on television try to make us believe, but one is that there are no conflicts in marriage, and if there is a conflict, it will be funny and leave you rolling in laughter. I always thought that life would be a peach if Joel and I could have conflicts like Ray and Debra on Everybody Loves Raymond or Tim and Jill on Home Improvement. I mean, they almost make you want to fight because it's so funny. When Joel and I do have a funny conflict, I like to call them Everybody Loves Raymond moments. Here's the lastest one...

We're all packed up and ready to head to Gwinnett for one of Joel's best friend's 40th Birthday Party. Joel goes to crank the car, but the battery is dead. Joel reacted very calmly, but I know he's thinking "What did Katherine leave on this time!" He pushes the car out of the garage to jump it off with the Corolla. He gets it cranked and we head to Bass Pro Shop to get Tait's birthday gift. I told him that I'd just sit in the car so that he didn't have to turn it off. We're pulling into the parking lot and I remind him not to turn the car off. As we pull into the parking space, I gently remind him again to leave the car running. He responds by saying, "You don't have to keep reminding me. I'm not going to turn it off." Here's the punchline--as he was saying that, he uncranked the car!!! He paused and looked at the keys and said, "like I just did." Luckily, it cranked right back up and we just got a good laugh out of it.
