Happy Birthday, Mary Kate!

We had a fabulous weekend in Charleston celebrating Mary Kate's first birthday. My mom drove over with us to spend the weekend at Stephanie and Joe's house (Thanks for all you did to make MK's birthday extra special). On Saturday morning, Joel and I ran in the Cooper River Bridge 10K Run. Even though it is super crowded, it's always a fun run to do and we made our goal by the skin of our teeth. Sunday was MK's birthday and we started it off by watching the DVD of her first year. This has been such a joyous year. Thank you, Lord, for all of the blessings that you've given us through Mary Kate. That afternoon, Laura Wall, Macon's YL intern, was able to join us for a cook-out (she was there to do the Bridge Run with her sister). It was a special treat to have one of her Macon friends join us. We had a blast watching Mary Kate open up all of her gifts and eat her cake. She really got into smashing her cake and then trying to make her daddy eat it. I don't think she ate much of it, but she certainly had fun with it. That evening, we went to the Charleston Museum, where Stephanie works, to see The Kid Story. This is the children's exhibit that Stephanie created. It tells the story of Charleston through kid's perspectives. It has lots of fun hands-on activities for children of all ages (including Joel and Joe). It is an incredible exhibit and we are very proud of Stephanie for all of her hard work. If you're ever in Charleston, you need to check it out. Now, we're home only to unpack and then pack again. Mary Kate and I are heading to Mississippi tomorrow to visit my grandparents.
