Whew!

Aaaahhh, it's nice to be able to just breathe for a few days without having to think about going somewhere else. Don't get me wrong, we've done a lot of fun, special things lately, but it's quite exhausting to go from place to place with 2 little ones.

Our recent adventures started at Sharp Top Cove for Young Life Family Camp. It was a fun weekend to get to play together as a family. Mary Kate got to take part in her first flour fight. This was also her first time being at a camp where she had some clue as to what was going on. However, she was not a fan of the loud music and program at meals. Amy, Alex, and Laura (Macon leaders) took turns taking her outside when she began to scream. It makes me a little nervous about being on assignment this summer. Maybe, she'll outgrow it by then! We had our last Young Life leader/committee luncheon of the year. It was fun fellowship and a time to honor Laura for her time on staff as she's leaving to pursue a teaching career and Steebo as a volunteer leader as he's leaving to serve as a year long intern at Crooked Creek.
Next, we headed to Santa Rosa Beach for the "Best Staff Conference Ever." Our Region was blessed with a gift from some donors to enjoy the beach for a weekend. We decided to leave Mary Kate with Joel's parents for this trip. I had several moments of wishing that she was with us at the beach, but way more moments of being glad that she wasn't there (is that bad to say?) It was a fun, relaxing time to hang out with other staff. Click on this picture to see more beach photos.
After that, we headed to Kentucky for my little sister's wedding. I'm so excited for Ethan and Rebecca as they start their lives together. It was a wonderful weekend to be with family and celebrate such a special time. I loved watching Rebecca smile, laugh, and enjoy everything that was going on. Mary Kate had a blast getting to be "one of the girls" this weekend and go to luncheons and get pedicures. She made a beautiful flower girl. She almost stole the show when she walked down the aisle and plopped down right by her daddy. Joel performed the wedding, which was his first, and sang in the wedding. He did an awesome job. I was so proud of him. It was also fun to walk down the aisle as a bridesmaid and get to look at him the whole way since he was standing at the end of the aisle. It was a happy, fun weekend, but exhausting at the same time. Thankfully, Joel's parents came up for the weekend to be at the wedding and to help out with Ford and Mary Kate. I think I would have gone insane if it weren't for Eric and Robin. I'm so thankful for them helping me keep them on somewhat of a schedule and for chasing after MK all weekend. I hope that y'all have recovered by now. The ride home from KY was miserable, and it just happened to be Mother's Day. Mary Kate cried the entire way home. The highlight of my Mother's Day was stopping in Knoxville to eat at my favorite restaurant, Silver Spoon. Also, let me add that Ford was an angel the whole way. The day did end on a good note when Joel called me outside to show me the double rainbow. It was God's reminder to me that He's right there with me and that a horrible day in the car will not destroy me! To see more wedding photos, click on this picture.
