We just got back from our annual trip to the beach with my mom's family. It was a great week to visit with family and get some beach time. It was sad that my sister and her new hubby couldn't make it down this year. She has rarely missed times at the beach, if ever. We missed y'all. Mary Kate had an absolute blast playing on the beach. It's so fun that my cousin has a girl and a boy MK's and Ford's ages. It was fun to watch them together. I know that next year will be crazy with the boys running around too. Now, if we could just get my cousin Chad and his family there, we'd have all the kiddos together. Mary Kate is crazy about her Uncle Joe. This week, she decided that he was her Prince and she wouldn't share him with anyone, not even Aunt Stephanie (she even got a little violent about it at times pushing Stephanie away). The first thing she'd say in the morning was, "Where is my prince?" It was hilarious. The excitement of the week was when we saw a 5 foot bull shark about 20 feet from the shore circling around. At first, I thought it was a cute dolphin that was super close. Then fear set in as I realized it was a shark. Now, I've pet sharks and swam with sharks before, but they were sweet little nurse sharks. There's a big difference when you're that close to a shark that you know can chomp down on you and rip you to shreds. Thankfully, he disappeared quickly never to be seen again.
Unfortunately, Joel didn't get to play with us on the beach because of his foot. We missed him on the beach, but he got some good bonding time with Ford in the house. And...drum roll please... Ford finally took a bottle. It only took him 9 months to get the hang of it, but FINALLY! Ford also loved the beach, and would have eaten buckets of sand if I had let him. Thanks to all my family that helped me take care of my kids all week. It was a huge blessing to not have to be "on" all the time.
Foot Update: Joel went to the doctor today and he said that everything was looking normal and should continue to heal without any problems. We were a little concerned before the appointment because it still swells up at times and didn't seem to be getting much better, but I'm thankful that the doctor had good things to say. He should be able to wear a normal shoe and walk normally soon. Thank you, Jesus!

It was lots of fun being with your family! Next year, this parallel play phase will be over and the girls will be doing much more than "run in circles outside" I'm certain. Glad to hear that Joel's foot is healing.
I do hope we are able to make it down one year for the beach trip. Maybe next year. Chad will be back from his deployment in May instead of July this time. Lucy and I will be in MS for 2 month while he is gone. I hope we will be able to see you guys then.
Katherine - I can't open the pictures! I've tried a number of times but there's nothing to click to open them. Do i have to sign in or something?
