Getting Adjusted

So, the trip out was amazing, but the first day at Trail West was horrible. This is what we woke up to.
We hadn't been to the grocery store yet, so we didn't have any food, and we didn't know how safe it was to go to the store (Sarah laughed at me about that later). So, we ate car snacks for breakfast. The kids had a blast in the snow until their hands got too cold. After 3 days of being cooped up in a car and the snow keeping them from playing outside, the first day was a little rough. Ford has been super needy and whiney since we've been here. He wants me to hold him nonstop, which is kind of difficult hiking up steps at 9,000 feet. My best friend from college, Sarah, lives in Buena Vista with her hubby and 3 kids (soon to be 4 when their adoption of T is complete). Sarah came up Sunday night after the kids were in bed and we got to talk for hours. It was bliss. We moved from our apartment to a condo after 2 days. I thought our apartment was fine until we got to our condo.

We went from this view...to this view...
Now, I kinda feel like I'm on a luxurious vacation, which is really fun. On Tuesday, we went with Sarah and her kids to Salida to swim in the indoor hot springs pool. It was so fun. They have a toddler pool that doesn't go over 3 feet, so it was perfect for the kids. I'm finding it really interesting to watch Ford around groups of kids. When it's just 1 or 2 kids, he has fun playing with them, but he tends to play by himself a lot when the crowd gets bigger. At the pool, he was perfectly content sitting on the side of the pool playing with a noodle all by himself. After about an hour, he finally got in the pool to play with everyone. That afternoon, we went to watch Eli's (Sarah's oldest) soccer game. We've been having a lot of fun at nights hanging out with all the people here from our region. There's about 9 of them out here, so we all get together when classes are done for the day.
