Goodbye Trail West

Friday, we spent a lot of time hanging out at the lodge. The kids played with a lot of the games they have there and made a colossal mess, but it was worth it because it gave me some time to spend with Jesus. Joel had some study time that afternoon and took his final exam (which I'm sure he aced). That night, we had our "assigned team" party...at least, that's what we called it...with all the Georgia folks. Saturday, we ate a yummy breakfast at the restaurant that Sarah works and headed to the river. When we showed up there, we realized that a race was going on. Joel asked how far they were running and they said 25 or 50 miles. What! I couldn't imagine running 5 miles in those mountains, much less 25 or 50. That's what I call crazy! The kids entertained themselves for about 20 minutes throwing rocks in the river.

We took this picture on these rocks in 2009...

and this one on the same rocks, 2 years later
We had a picnic lunch at the playground, ice cream from K's, and headed back to get packed up. That night, we hung out with Sarah and Nathan. The kids had a blast playing together, seeing the animals, and having a silly string fight. Ford was very frustrated with it because he couldn't make it spray by himself. Sarah and Nathan fixed a great dinner...my first time eating elk. Mary Kate was introduced to boxing when Able asked her if she wanted to play boxing. She said, "yes" and then he punched her...hilarious! I don't think she'll play boxing again. I was sad to have to say goodbye to Sarah. It was the best week getting to have time with her and just live life together.
